Could there be a lighting Shortage in my car?

The other day when I was walking up to my back door I noticed that my lights inside my car were on? I haven't drove my car or even touched it in about a week cause it needs some stuff done to it. I don't know if someone was trying to get inside my car or could there be a shortage with the lighting? I no absolutely nothing about cars! So I'm lost!
