Has anyone ever privately built a spacecraft?

Has any small group of people of single person ever attempted to privately build a pilot-able spacecraft? I've been considering the idea for a while and wondering (monetary matters aside) would it be possible to build one legally (I live in Ireland) and if it could feasibly work. Lets say you hired a successful aeronautical engineer specializing in spacecraft and other necessary engineers and had adequate knowledge of he subject yourself, would anything (monetary matters still aside) stand in the way of the spacecraft functioning?

The best way to start would be either to join the Air Cadets in your area. Or contact the nearest (small plane) airfield where you can usually get flying lessons. From there, you can get your private licence. And from there you accumulate hours of flying time, then you go from small engines to bigger and bigger planes. A lot of commercial pilots (if not most of them) have gone through the military (Air Force, of course).

I believe there were a few (I do not remember how many) who were shot down and survived the crash to be picked up and made POWs later. There were also some who had aircraft problems and could not execute their missions so returned to base to try again. These individuals were treated with scorn by their squad mates who had not been launched on an attack yet. Of course, at the end of the war there were squadrons assembled and ready to launch when the US tired to invade Japan which never happened, so they survived the war.

Joining the US Air Force?

I talked to a recruiter yesterday and because of a birth deformity he said that I am disqualified from joining the Air Force. I am missing a couple fingers but I've yet to find anything that it has held me back from. I'm able to lift weights with the hand and even write with it. I also have perfect vision and hearing, and no criminal record at all. It is also not my dominant hand if that matters. I guess my main question is would it be possible for me to get a waiver if I went and got a college degree and a pilot's license and tried to get in again? Or should I not bother wasting my time? Is it me or is that I barely see shortage of black men on tv nowadays especially on primetime tv. We all remember when the WB had numerous sitcoms featuring blacks shows like the wayans bros. the parent hood and all about the andersons. Now it's called the CW (in which it stands for Catered to Whites) NBC once carried the cosby show for eight seasons and now that network doesn't have a black sitcom, plus I called NBC No Blacks will ever Conquer. I told my Uncle about how Captain "Sully" Sullenberger was speaking out about how everyone's pay had been cut in recent years. The bad shaking makes me think engine mounts, but that does not explain your other problems. You may need a new alternator, get it tested at autozone/checkers/etc. The coolant tank is known to get a faulty level sensor. Getting started as a pilot?

Yes, start with a PPL. I don't recommend a degree in aeronautics (professional piloting) because if you cannot fly for some reason (health, family, personal reasons etc) it is a useless degree for finding decent employment. At only 5'2', you aren't a military pilot candidate, therefore you'll have to go the expensive civilian route. Start with getting your PPL then go from there. There are many books and websites on how to become a professional pilot, but you need an idea of what type of pilot you want to be.

Have you ever rented out a parking space?

I live in a condo community and own the unit I live in. One developing problem is a shortage of parking. A few of the renters have multiple cars - one in particular has up to 6 parking here. Each unit is assigned one reserved space and remaining cars need to park in "guest" spaces. When the guest spots are filled up, some people are just choosing to park in reserved spaces that do not belong to them. The units for those spaces are vacant, but the point is that it still isn't their space. So imagine a parking shortage with vacant units and then those units fill up. The situation is only going to get worse. Fortunately, I have access to and use of two reserved spaces. A group of folks I know (who also own) are only here about half of the year. I look after their place during the other half and in return I get to use their reserved space (so technically, I have a reserved space for myself, and a reserved space for guests). I am thinking of renting out the space that is assigned to my unit to try and take advantage of the parking shortage. Any suggestions/feedback? Thanks!

I am a 15 year old female and of course thinking about my future. I plan on going to college for two years and then enlisting in the U.S military. My problem is that i do not know what branch i want to join. I want to be a pilot, I am in Civil Air Patrol and that is helping me to get closer to that goal. I'm going to do NROTC (Marine option) next year and my goal is to go to and pass flight school and become a pilot. Would getting a certain degree in college help my chances of passing flight school by giving me more knowledge and experience than my peers? I exercise / eat healthy, lose weight get really happy and the next day I overeat and don't do any exercise?

I was the same way. I it's like I would have a ton of motivation for a while, lose weight, then lose the motivation after a while and get lazy. You need to find something to movitate you when you, or inspire you. Buy an outfit that you really like in the size that you want to be (or get out an old outfit you can't fit into that you wish to wear again) then when you feel like eating junk food, or not being active, go try and put on that outfit. That usually does it for me and reaffirms my reasoning for wanting to lose weight. Although, you should be losing weight to get healthy and stay happy, which I do, but doing this usually keeps my motivation up. Also, they say it takes 21 days to create a habbit, so just try to be active and eat right for 21 days, then hopefully it will just be a normal routine for you. Good luck!

We have foreign doctors because there is a doctor shortage. For example, my family doctor is from the Philippines, my dentist is from Canada, and one of the specialists that I see is from Czechoslovakia (formerly). Another specialist is from India. i dreamt this all in a time span of 45 minutes, and it took like 2 minutes in teh dream. first of all i woke up at 9 and just went back to sleep cause i was tired. now the dreaming starts.ok so i dream that my friend is at my house in the day, and he goes to use the bathroom. we were in my bedroom with the A/C on at 16 degrees Celsius. A moment after he closes the door, the power goes out (this always happens in teh country i live in, we are on a shortage of power so we have schedules and backup generators) and its pitch black and my friend wasn't making any recognition or noise. i couldnt see **** and the wooden rafters on my windows closed with the outage of power without me noticing. the wierd part is that my AC was still on for a few seconds and i was staring at it scared as hell, btw my door was open so that really doesnt make it better. then the power came back and then when out again and this time the AC and Wifi internet modem were both on and not turning off due to lack of power. i decided to lie down and wait for my friend, but then i suddenly woke up and there was power and it was at night and my friend was no where to be seen. i guessed that he might have left because i fell asleep. i sprinted for my mothers room, obviously she should be home at this hour, and it was to find her room dark and empty with the blankets a little untidy (i mean someone had been there). then i went to my sisters room and at first glance it was empty but then i looked again (the light was dim) and i saw my sister sleeping on my bed with all her stuffed toys gone(shes 12) and my mom sleeping on my maid's bed (she sleeps in that room) WITH ANOTHER OF THE SAME SISTER. i was scared to hell seeing 2 of the same sister so i shook my mom awake and said "MOM WAKE UP THERE ARE 2 (sisters name)'S! she left half her body, looks at them both, and just goes back to sleep. then i ask her where the maid is (i used her name) and she said that she just woke up. then i woke up. wierd, huh? i didnt wake up panting or heart beating fast or anything i was just glad to be rid of that dream and be able to see clearly as it was 9:45 am. my maid is fine and my sister is fine, and my mom is at work(preschool)

Too old for USAF & Flight School?

I'm 22, recently decided to buckle down with college and will have my AA in a month or so. I've wanted to be a pilot since I was 6 and learned that my grandfather was a mechanic and worked on p-51 mustangs. However like most dreams we have as children that seems to be a ridiculous idea as you grow older. This one has kind of always stuck with me in some way and I'm starting to think about it a lot recently. I understand that only a VERY select few become fighter pilots, while other end up flying cargo or fuel. I've heard everything there is to hear about the difficulty and slim chances of becoming a pilot. I didn't come hear to hear more about that. I would love to fly for the USAF or Navy, however hard it is to land on a carrier lol. My only question is, am I too old to go down that road? I've heard about some "high-school to flight-school" program which may have been my best bet, but my head was elsewhere when I was in high-school. Any and all answers are appreciated, thank you.

I am a 35 year old Professional male attorney.I am happy in life,love my job and fiancee. I am getting married in December. I just graduated High School and Vocational for Aviation aerospace tec with a grade A. However, I have been flying with my dad who is a CFI and has been training me for my private pilot. I now logged 27 hours and am ready to solo but need a class 3 medical Exam to do so. But here's that catch... I smoke marijuana about 3-4 times a week for the past year. I come to find that smoking has not affected any of my learning abilities as my grades demonstrated. My passion in life is to fly and of coarse i realize that smoking will have to come to an end as I get my higher ratings. but the bottom line is, im living life to the fullest and having a great time doing so, and as any typical teen does. A couple of points being that 1.3�F is a global anomaly, certain places would have experienced a much larger temperature anomaly, and some may have been hotter than average. Another point is that the 1.3 �F is also a average yearly temperature. My friend is dating a police officer, need help?

A very close girl friend of mine is a very sweet but can be sometimes naive. She is in her early 20s and recently complained to me that she wishes she had a decent guy to fall in love with. Intermittent spark ignition systems for restaurant cooking equipment?

I am working on a Blodgett convection oven (propane) which is equipped with a Johnson Controls G770 type spark controller. My problem is that after the pilot flame is detected and the main burner solenoid valve is energized the main burner lights for about a second and then both the pilot flame and the main burner flame are extinguished. The ignition system then recycles with the same result, ultimately going into lockout. Replacing the control yields the same result so I have discounted the possibility of it being at fault. Any suggestions? The factory offers no viable solutions.

Basically my friend told me quite a while ago that she had cancer, although her mum won't tell her where about because she doesn't want her to look it up and get paranoid about it, but anyway... She's had it for quite a while now and I still feel terrible about it. I really wish I could do something about and I asked a doctor if there's any way I could help with cancer and he said no, all she needs is support. but back to the real story. She has a lot of other problems, like she's enemic, dyslexic and has a shortage of blood cells. So last week we were going home on the school bus and I wanted to get her back as a joke because she coughed on me a lot on purpose (she had a cold and gave it to me), as a joke. So I did it to her on the bus (as a joke and I had a cold) and I didn't know how that would effect anything. Turns out, the week we were off, she gave it to her brother and her brother gave it back but worse. So basically the cold I gave her as a joke made her sick. The kind of sick when ur just when you're generally ill, but she told me it effected her cancer and she had to take injections and stuff. Apparently I've made it worse and the guilt is literally eating me alive. Now I just wish I could die. I want to punish myself. Actually, I have. I feel like crying I've made everything worse. It's all my fault. Shes forgiven me but I will never ever forgive myself. Ever. What I did was horrible and selfish. How can I live with all the guilt. And is it true that giving someone a cold but making them sick affect cancer? What will happen? Please help! My stomach has filled to the brim with guilt and hatred for myself. I'm a monster. Why can't I suffer instead of her.

I know from experience that it is hard to share your own poetry with others, because everyone will perceive it differently.
